Does any roulette betting system work?
20 betting systems, each run through the same 20,000 seeded sessions on a European wheel and again on an American one. The most persistent walks away $200 up 78% of the time. Every one of them loses between $2.52 and $2.87 per $100 wagered, which is the house edge and nothing else.
Same rules, same spins, every system
Each session starts with $1,000, bets in $5 units, and ends at the first of: up $200, 500 spins, or a required stake the bankroll or the $500 per bet limit can’t cover. Every system sees the identical sequence of spins, so differences between rows come from the betting rules alone.

Why the last column barely moves
Every bet on a European layout returns −1/37 of its stake on average, about −$2.70 per $100. A system decides when and how much to bet, but each of those bets still carries −1/37, so the total is −1/37 of everything wagered. The spread in the last column is sampling noise. What a system can change is the shape: how often a session ends ahead, how deep the losing sessions go, and how much gets wagered along the way. The same-seed comparison study works through this for five of them in more detail.
Negative progression
Raise the stake after losses. High success rates, paid for by rare sessions where the stake outgrows the bankroll or the table.
Does the Martingale system work?
Double the stake after every loss, return to one unit after a win.
Grand MartingaleDoes the Grand Martingale system work?
Double the stake and add one unit after every loss.
FibonacciDoes the Fibonacci roulette system work?
Move one step up the Fibonacci sequence after a loss, two steps back after a win.
D’AlembertDoes the D’Alembert system work?
Add one unit to the stake after a loss, remove one after a win.
LabouchèreDoes the Labouchère system work?
Bet the sum of the first and last numbers on a list; cross them off on a win, append the stake on a loss.
Oscar’s GrindDoes Oscar’s Grind work?
Aim for one unit of profit per series, raising the stake only after a win.
Dozen MartingaleDoes a Martingale on dozens work?
Bet one dozen and raise the stake after each loss so the next 2:1 win recovers everything.
Positive progression
Raise the stake after wins. Small, frequent losses between streaks; the risk per spin stays low.
Does the Reverse Martingale system work?
Double the stake after every win, return to one unit after a loss.
ParoliDoes the Paroli system work?
Double after a win, bank the streak after three wins in a row.
Contra D’AlembertDoes the Contra D’Alembert system work?
Add one unit after a win, remove one after a loss.
Reverse LabouchèreDoes the Reverse Labouchère system work?
Labouchère inverted: append the stake on a win, cross off two numbers on a loss.
1-3-2-6Does the 1-3-2-6 system work?
Stake 1, 3, 2, then 6 units across a winning run; reset on any loss.
Flat stake
No progression. The control group: what the edge does with nothing on top.
Does betting on one number every spin work?
One unit straight-up on 17, every spin.
Fixed fraction (2%)Does betting a fixed percentage of your bankroll work?
Stake 2% of the current bankroll on red, every spin.
Flat bettingDoes flat betting work at roulette?
One unit on red, every spin, no progression. The baseline.
Coverage
Spread one stake across many pockets. Win most spins, win small, lose big on the rest.
Does the James Bond roulette strategy work?
Spread 20 units across high (19–36), the 13–18 six-line, and zero.
Two DozensDoes betting on two dozens work?
One unit each on the first and second dozens, every spin.
RomanoskyDoes the Romanosky roulette system work?
Two dozens at three units each plus two corners at one unit, covering 32 numbers.
Pattern
Bet on what the wheel has been doing. On independent spins, the past says nothing about the next result.
Method
- Sessions
- 20,000 per system per wheel, 800,000 in total
- Master seed
0x6d2e6c8b, shared by every system- Outcome path
- The two-stage seeded generator used by Engineer mode, unmodified
- Verification
- Each system’s Lua is replayed through the production kernel in the test suite and must match the bulk run exactly
Have a system that isn’t here? Write it in Engineer mode, run it on the same seeds, and send it in. If it beats the last column, that’s a bug worth finding.
